Blog Four: Candidate Perspectives

The perspectives that the candidates have on the importance of returning to In-Person learning seem to be very similar.  The differences appear in how they are being rolled out or communicated.  Although no position was presented here for Jorgensen, and Hawkins is rather brief, focusing on who should have control over the decisions, Biden and Trump clearly have similar perspectives.   Each of these candidates noted the negative long term impacts especially for students with fewer resources.  Biden outlined a five step plan, and pointed to specific research on learning loss.  President Trump presented similar priorities in the source,  Donald Trump, “President Donald J. I wonder how the pandemic is impacting education both in the United States and also globally.  I am really interested in this topic because I am a teacher, but also because I have had the amazing opportunity to travel and work with schools in other countries as well.  I am especially connected to the country Liberia because our church helps support a school there and I have gone to do teacher training a few times.   Although there are many negative impacts on education because of prolonged school closures and less access, I also wonder if this time has inspired some new and creative education ideas, which in the long run will have a really positive effect.  I think there are always ways to learn and grow even in the most challenging circumstances, and I look forward to finding out some of the ways educators across the world are doing that.   Question: What are the ...
